When I say I'm reading a book, there is a 99% chance of it being a thriller or mystery novel. I used to watch a lot of thriller movies in college because I had nothing else interesting to do. After watching almost all of the major thrillers, I couldn't find any new movies with good rating and that's why I turned to books.
The first ever thriller which I read was "The Truth About Harry Quebert Affair" and it still remains my top favourite book of all time.
But that's something I will talk about in another post. In this post I'll mention my top picks from the non-thrillers I have read.
Lets go :3
This is a comic series about three bone characters that get thrown out of their native place and their adventures. Although it seems like a series for kids, it is so much more complex with an engaging plot and characters. And I love the art style used in the book, it captures the fantasy world they are in and bones are so adorable.
I guess it was from reading this book that I started to appreciate art in general. Nowadays I read WEEBTOONs everyday but back then I wasn't really into comics so I'm glad I picked this series.
This is one of the most beautiful books I have ever read. Each chapter in this novel is crafted so well and can surprise or shock you in the end. It's a very simple story but very memorable and I absolutely loved it. It deals with themes of guilt and forgiveness.
I also would recommend The Thousand Splendid Suns by the same author if you liked this.
Probably the only Classic which I actually enjoyed reading. This book really had an impact on me, because I found myself looking into privacy and security (apps and services) a lot after reading it. A lot of the predictions in the book happen for real even today (at least upto some extent) which is interesting but also terrifying. To be honest I really didn't like the protagonist much, I agreed with this thoughts but sometimes he just seemed really messed up. Usually I can't read books that have protagonists I dislike but this was an exception because the story was so engaging and I really wanted to know what happens in the end.
Here's a small illustration I made combining all the three books and my OC I made for fun.
So that's pretty much all I have in mind at the moment. I wanted to write because I realised I wasn't writing anything and I don't want this website to go stagnant. I want to continue working on this and write because it's fun.
That's it. See you :\
